A Dutch label ADO LES SCENTS sets the standard for menswear. The label’s vision manifests itself in elegant, high-quality menswear with innovative shapes and fabrics. ADO LES SCENTS aims for a young-minded crowd. These men are not afraid to stand out and show their vulnerable side.

The ADO LES SCENTS Autumn/Winter 2012/13 collection by Hyun Yeu draws inspiration from George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four”. The book, first published in 1949, depicts an ominous society, ruled by an oligarchic dictatorship, that has reduced its people to anonymous masses subordinate to a so-called greater collective good. In “Nineteen Eighty-Four”, Orwell warns against a bleak future where individuality is a crime and even ones thoughts are under state surveillance.

ADO LES SCENTS Autumn/Winter 2012/13 collection translates this concept of a dark society where individualism is not appreciated into a collection with classically tailored well cut blazers with modern twists and special garment detailing such as pockets placed in between the jacket frames. The neutral colours used in this collection range from grey to black, referring to the darker side of society, yet with touches of bright red, expressing the individual’s identity and protest against the regime. Name tags placed on jackets and shirts references workers- and military uniforms.

For this collection, Yeu uses luxurious fabrics such as cashmere, wool, angora and high tech fabrics like nylon, waterproof treated cotton and wool. The ADO LES SCENTS Autumn/Winter 2012/13 collection includes heavy winter jackets with layered inner jackets that can be worn separately.
